North Sea Jazz

World-renowned North Sea Jazz Festival is famous for coverage of a wide-range of genres, from sub-genres such as traditional New Orleans jazz, swing, bop, free-jazz, fusion, avant-garde jazz and electronic jazz, to blues, gospel, funk, soul, R&B, hip hop, world-beat and Latin.

Alongside leading names such as Sarah Vaughan, Count Basie, James Brown, Dizzy Gillespie, Stan Getz, Miles Davis, Ibrahim Ferrer, Ella Fitzgerald, Alicia Keys, Lionel Hampton, Stevie Wonder, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Santana, Al Jarreau, BB King, Wynton Marsalis, Herbie Hancock, Jamiroquai and Joe Zawinul, North Sea Jazz is also an annual hot spot to showcase and break new talent.

North Sea Jazz prides itself on this uniqueness: a 3 day event to showcase and represent jazz and related genres from the past, present and the future.

Historically NSJ has received media support with broadcasts on radio and TV ever since Paul Acket founded the event back in 1976. Dutch media outlets such as AVRO and NTS (who later became NTR) have a wealth of recordings preserved from years and years of the event.

Sadly, not all recordings are still available, but more than enough to create a thorough retrospective of the event.

All of these available recordings will be rolled-out in phases.
